HI-7660-2805 Low Range Turbidity Probe, 5 Metre cable
HI-7660-2805 Low Range Turbidity Probe, 5 Metre cable

HI-7660-2805

HI-7660 is a turbidity probe using the nephelometric method, designed for low turbidity values up to 400 FNU. This probe is for use with Hanna’s HI-510 and HI-520 Process Controllers.

An integral temperature sensor measures the temperature of the water during readings, adjusting the probe signal as needed. This is the version of the HI-7660 with a 5m cable.

The HI-7660 should be accompanied by the HI-7676602 flow cell for most applications. Using a flow cell helps to achieve consistent pressure and eliminates ambient light effects for improved accuracy in testing for water quality, wastewater and drinking water applications.

HI-7660 Low Range Turbidity Probe with 5m Cable

HI-7660 is a turbidity probe designed to measure low values according to the nephelometric method (ISO 7027 – EN 27027). The HI-7660 is suitable for the measurement of water across a range of industries and applications, including water treatment, water quality, drinking water and desalination.

This probe is designed for use with Hanna Instruments’ HI-510 and HI-520 process controllers, as an addition to the range of specialist probes available for these controllers. The unit of measurement for the HI-7660 is FNU, with a range from 0 to 400 FNU.

Three lengths of cable are available for the HI-7660 to suit different requirements:

The probe features an integrated temperature sensor that adjusts the probe signal within a temperature range of 0 °C to 50°C. Both turbidity and temperature measurements display simultaneously on the connected controller.

The HI-7676602 flow cell is highly recommended for HI-7660 probes, as most industries will require installation within a pressurised flow cell to achieve the desired accuracy from testing. This flow cell maintains pressure and eliminates any ambient light while minimising out-gassing, reducing measurement errors and providing a greater level of accuracy.

HI-7660 features

Designed for HI-51X Series Process Controllers

The HI-7660 is designed for use with Hanna Instruments HI-510 and HI-520 Process Controllers. These controllers, when combined with the probe, provide a reliable and accurate method for monitoring turbidity in water across various applications. Alongside the turbidity probe, different probes are available for easy and accurate water quality monitoring.

Built-in temperature sensor

This turbidity probe features an integral temperature sensor, which compensates for the turbidity readings and improves the accuracy of testing. After temperature measurement, the probe signal of the HI-7660 is adjusted to achieve consistently reliable results within a range of 0 °C to 50°C.

Stored digital calibration data

Vital data is stored and maintained in the HI-5X0 Process Controller when the HI-7660 is connected to the system for easy access. The digital probe stores the firmware version, model and serial number with easy retrieval, while calibration date and time, turbidity calibration standard, offset, and slope are all available from the HI-510 and 520 menus.

ISO 7027-compliant sensors

The HI-7660 is ISO 7027 compliant and adheres to ISO 7027 – EN 2702 standards. The probe uses the nephelometric method for the measurement of turbidity, with a near-infrared light-emitting diode, or LED, that eliminates colour interference during testing.

Calibrated at the factory

Every HI-7660 probe is pre-calibrated before delivery at our in-house factory, making it ready for use immediately following installation. Depending on your amount of usage and specific application, your calibration requirements for this probe will vary. Speak to our team directly for personalised advice.

About the HI-5X0 Process Controller Series

Both the HI-510 and HI-520 are advanced process controllers from Hanna Instruments. These highly customisable controllers can be adapted to a range of different applications, including water analysis within the wastewater, drinking water and desalination fields.

Depending on your probe configuration, these universal process controllers can measure pH, conductivity, ORP, turbidity and dissolved oxygen. Learn more about these controllers by speaking to our experts directly.

About the HI-7676602 Flow Cell

The HI-7676602 Flow Cell is recommended for use with the HI-7660 probe for accuracy and reliability in measurement. This accessory for the turbidity probe includes a locking collar, probe adaptor, wall-mounting bracket and an inlet-outlet tube. Learn more about it here.

FAQs

What industries is the HI-7660 turbidity probe suitable for?

In combination with the HI-510 or HI-520 universal process controller, this turbidity probe is suitable for a wide range of industries and applications related to water, including:

  • Wastewater management
  • Water treatment
  • Drinking water monitoring
  • Desalination processes
  • Water quality monitoring

Do you need the flow cell with the HI-7660?

The HI-7660 should be installed with the HI-7676602 to achieve accuracy in testing to meet different industry requirements. A flow cell minimises out-gassing from the sample, eliminates the effect of ambient light and provides consistent pressure for measurement.

Speak to our team today to discuss whether a flow cell is a requirement for your specific application.

What options are available for the HI-7660?

The HI-7660 low-range turbidity probe is available in three cable lengths to suit different application environments:

What method does the HI-7660 use for turbidity measurement?

The HI-7660 is designed to use the nephelometric method (ISO 7027 – EN 27027) to measure low levels of turbidity.

A light beam from the infrared light source within the probe is sent out through an optical window. This light scatters as a result of the suspended particles in the sample, and is then reflected through a second window on the probe at 90°. This light is converted into an electrical signal, proportional to the turbidity of the sample or the standard. This probe uses FNU units for measurement.
