Halo Bluetooth Beer and Mash pH Tester Electrode
The FC2142 Halo wireless glass and titanium electrode tester is designed for beermaking, with specific features to facilitate easy and accurate measurement during mashing, fermentation and all other stages of beermaking. This electrode requires connection to the Hanna Lab App via Bluetooth to view the results of testing, where all results are logged to easily compare and review data during and after brewing.
The LED Halo design of this electrode provides clear feedback to indicate the status of the probe, providing vital information at a glance. This pocket-sized electrode is the ideal space-saving solution for the digital measurement of beer.
Halo features
Designed for brewing
The version of the Halo electrode is designed specifically for use in brewing, whether you are DIY beermaking or measuring beer in a commercial process. The design of the FC2142 beer pH tester includes a durable titanium body and a high-temperature glass sensor. An extendable cloth-type junction further improves accuracy in testing while preventing clogging from wort.
Effortless operation
The Halo electrode tester for brewing is designed to be easy to use and practical for multiple pH readings, a vital functionality in comparison to using several pH test strips to get the necessary results when making adjustments during the mashing stage. Connect the Halo to the Hanna Lab App via Bluetooth 4.0, press the single button and tag your measurement to transform your smartphone or tablet into a digital pH meter.
Simple unclogging
The FC2142 Halo beer tester has a cloth junction that helps to improve ongoing accuracy when measuring wort and beer. This junction can be extracted up to (⅛”) to clear any clogging. This increases the life of the pH electrode and prevents inaccurate pH readings when measuring beer.
Completely connected
Halo electrodes operate in tandem with the Hanna Lab app, turning your smartphone or tablet into a full-featured pH meter for beer. Connect via Bluetooth to start the measuring process, and then place your electrode into the cooled sample. Press the button a single time to log information and easily compare results via the app interface.
Easily changeable battery
Halo testers are powered by a CR2032 lithium-ion coin-shaped battery. This battery lasts for approximately 500 hours and is easily and readily replaceable, making continued measurements effortless.
FAQs
What stages of brewing can the Halo beer electrode be used for?
The Halo beer electrode is designed for every stage in the brewing process, from mashing and fermentation to the final product. The pH of the mash must be measured at room temperature by removing a sample and allowing it to cool to achieve the most accurate results. Learn more about measuring pH for beer here.
Why should I measure the pH of beer?
Keeping track of the pH of beer throughout the brewing process is vital for achieving the beer you want. pH that falls outside of the typical ranges in both fermentation and mashing can lead to undesirable outcomes. For example, your beer may taste astringent or metallic, or its shelf life may be reduced. Using a pH tester for beer is the best way to monitor this vital parameter and make changes as required. Learn more about changing the pH of beer here.
How do you use Halo electrode testers?
Halo electrodes require a connection to the Hanna Lab App to collect data from measurement. Once your smartphone or tablet is connected, you can simply press the button on the pH electrode to get a reading of your wort or beer.
How do you clean Halo electrodes?
A specific cleaning solution sachet for the material you’re working with is the best way to clean Halo electrodes. Ensure everything from the previous sample is thoroughly removed before measurement to achieve reliable and accurate results. Halo electrodes are compatible with Hanna cleaning solutions, such as the Hanna HI-700682P electrode cleaning solution for beer and wort, which you can buy online here.
