Prior to analysis, red wine must be decolourised with activated charcoal. Phenols present in the wine are an interference in the Fehling reaction of reducing sugars. Through the use of several scoops of HI-93703-59 activated charcoal and filter paper, the phenols can be removed to ensure an accurate analysis of reducing sugar concentration.
