HI-3835-100 Replacement reagents for Salinity
In Stock 5 Items available
HI-3835-100
The HI-3835-100 are reagents for the determination of salinity by titration with the salinity chemical test kit.
There are enough reagents for approximately 100 tests to be used with Hanna’s test kit. These high quality reagents are clearly marked with the lot number and expiry date on each packet for traceability.
- Pre-made reagents for ease of use
- Prepared with high purity chemicals
Salinity, mercuric nitrate titration method
- Range: 0.0 to 40.0 mg/L.
For determination of salinity, the pH of the sample is adjusted to approximately pH3 with the nitric acid reagent, turning the solution yellow. The mercuric ions present in the titrant react with chloride in the sample. Once all of the chloride is in the mercuric chloride form, excess mercuric ions are present, forming a purple complex with the diphenylcarbazone indicator. The number of millilitres of titrant used to change the solution’s colour from yellow to purple will determine the salinity in g/kg (ppt). These reagents are designed to be used with samples that have an expected salinity range of 0 to 40 g/kg (ppt).
