What is the Iris Spectrophotometer?

The Iris is a high-precision spectrophotometer that covers a comprehensive spectral range of visible light from 340 nm to 900 nm. This comprehensive coverage makes the Iris Spectrophotometer suitable for a wide variety of applications, allowing for full compliance with specific industry and regulatory standards for measurement.

The HI-802 Iris includes features that reduce testing time and improve the repeatability and accuracy of measurement. Automatic vial recognition of Hanna vials, an electronic zero functionality and an average function for both pre-programmed and custom methods save time on testing and ensure that measurements are reliable and repeatable.

What are the key features of the Iris?

Automatic vial recognition

Compatible Hanna 13 mm reagent vials are automatically read by a barcode reader when inserted into the Iris, enabling immediate setup and testing without the need to navigate menus. This reduces time in testing and requires only a single setup for repeated testing, increasing the number of tests that can be completed within an hour.

Electronic zero

The Iris allows you to store the zero once it has been measured a single time with a DI water blank, allowing for stable readings without repeating the zero for every test. Testing is fast, convenient and accurate with a shared single zero that can be utilised for the whole batch of reagents.

Vial rotation with average function

The HI-802 spectrophotometer features full vial rotation with compatible Hanna 13 mm vials. A total of 256 readings are taken per measurement with the average function, providing exceptionally accurate results when testing samples. Averaging is available across methods pre-programmed into the Iris and can be used in custom methods for complete flexibility.

Pre-programmed and custom methods

Over 100 methods are available for the Iris, with 90 commonly used methods pre-programmed into the spectrophotometer on purchase. Add up to 100 of your own methods or speak to our experts for support in setting up custom curves for unique purposes. Methods can be accessed via the favourites menu for fast, easy testing

Portable and practical

A lithium-ion battery allows Hanna’s spectrophotometer to be used anywhere without the need for constant attachment to mains power. This makes the Iris uniquely suited for working in the field as well as providing additional flexibility to move your instrument around the lab instead of keeping it in a single, static location. Approximately 3,000 measurements can be taken before a recharge is required.

No software required

Export data in a universal .csv or .pdf file to access your measurements directly, with no specialist software process required. Data can be transferred via direct connection to a Mac or PC, or use a USB drive in the field or the lab to access data without the need to place the Iris near a computer. Up to 9,999 data points can be stored within the Iris before transfer is required.
