HI-981031 features

The ideal brewing companion

The HI-981031 beer tester is a simple and highly accurate solution for the measurement of beer throughout the brewing process. Unlike test strips, this tester can be used repeatedly at each stage, in addition to repeated measurements required when adjusting the pH during the fermentation and mashing steps. Provided this beer tester is cleaned with a suitable solution, such as Hanna’s HI-700682P electrode cleaning solution for beer and wort, you can measure as many times as required for cost-effective monitoring.

Designed with beer in mind

This mash and beer tester features a hard-wearing titanium body, protecting the glass electrode from damage. This electrode includes a flat glass tip, providing a direct measurement for both liquids and semi-solids in brewing. The cloth junction in the HI-981031 brewing tester is also renewable for continual accuracy in testing. Simply extract a few millimetres of the cloth junction to expose a fresh portion and cut off the old part.

Single-button operation

The HI-981031 operates with a single button to power on, take measurements, and calibrate the beer meter. This simple design allows for fast and easy measurement, with no additional navigation and processes required to take immediate measurements once the pH tester has been turned on.

Starter kit included

This beer tester includes a complete starter testing kit for brewing, with pH 4.01 and 7.01 buffer, cleaning solution sachets, electrode storage solution and an instruction manual included with your purchase. You have everything you need out of the box to start measuring the pH of wort and beer, with all solution sachets available directly from Hanna’s website with next-day delivery.

Long life battery

The HI-981031 pH tester is powered by a CR2032 lithium-ion coin-shaped battery. This battery has a life of approximately 1,000 hours, allowing for thousands of measurements before replacement is required. Changing batteries is simple, providing continued operation without any delays.

FAQs

What stages of brewing can the beer testers be used for?

Hanna’s beer pH testers are designed to be used in every single stage of the brewing process. Samples of wort can be removed from the mash or during fermentation to measure at room temperature. Beer can be measured directly once the process is completed. Learn more about how to measure mash here.

Why should I measure the pH of beer?

Monitoring the pH level of beer is integral to achieving the best possible outcome consistently. The pH of your wort has an impact on several factors in beer, including its stability, taste and colour. Using a pH tester to measure when brewing can provide valuable information to keep your beer within acceptable levels. Learn more about why the pH of beer is important here.

How do you use beer testers?

To use the HI-981031 beer tester, simply turn the tester on and immerse the electrode into a room-temperature sample of wort or beer. It’s important to pay attention to the maximum immersion level of the tester to avoid overimmersion.
