HI-5521 is an advanced, two channel research grade benchtop pH/ORP and EC/TDS/Salinity/Resistivity meter that is completely customisable with a large colour LCD, capacitive touch keys, and USB port for computer connectivity. It allows for simultaneous measurement of pH or ORP on one channel and EC or related parameters on the other.

HI-5521 is an ideal research-grade instrument with large, easy read graphic display and soft touch keypad.

Up to four conductivity calibration points can be used to increase measurement accuracy:


  • One fixed-point salinity calibration on the percent scale
  • Three methods for calculating seawater
  • Practical scale
  • Natural seawater scale
  • Percent scale


Customise to your application

The display is customisable and can display two channels simultaneously. Measurements are given in various modes: basic measurement, with or without GLP information, graph or logging data. Display colours are also selectable.

Up to 10 profiles (5 for each channel) can be saved and recalled for both meters eliminating the need to reconfigure each time a different electrode is used. User definable configurations include:


  • Temperature compensation modes
  • Temperature units
  • Isopotential points for pH

pH CalCheck

  • CalCheck for pH alerts users of calibration status and eliminates erroneous readings due to dirty or faulty pH electrodes or contaminated buffer solutions
  • After calibration, electrode condition is evaluated and overall status of pH electrode is indicated
  • To avoid taking readings with old calibrations, the instrument automatically reminds the user when calibration has expired

EC USP Mode

  • HI-5521 can use EC probes for conductivity measurements required to prepare water for injection (WFI) according to USP <645>
  • On-screen instructions explain how to perform each stage and automatically check temperature, conductivity and stability are within USP limits
  • Comprehensive results displayed on a single screen at end of the test

Dual Channels

The two measurement channels of the HI-5521-02 are galvanically isolated to eliminate noise and instability. Communication is via opto-isolated USB.



Highly Customisable User Interface – Allows users to show measurements in various modes: basic measurement (with or without GLP information), real-time graphing, and logging data. Calibration stability criteria can be adjusted from fast, moderate, and accurate.



Capacitive Touch – Sensitive capacitive touch buttons allow accurate keystrokes during screen navigation. Four dedicated keys are used for routine operations - including calibration and switching measurement modes; and four virtual keys that change based on use. The button technology ensures against clogging from sample residue.
