The HI-98330 Nutrient Tester is designed to be easy to use out of the box, with pre-calibration and minimal steps required for accurate EC measurement. We cover all of the fundamentals of using and maintaining the HI-98330 in this article.
The HI-98330 is designed to be used out of the box. Rotate the battery cap counterclockwise and remove the protective film to prepare your nutrient tester for use. Batteries are included for immediate operation.
Open your nutrient reservoir and insert the tester into the water. Use the HI-98330 to stir your solution for even distribution and wait two minutes for the reading to stabilise. Once stable, you can read EC and TDS directly using the 24 blue LEDs and scale on the side of the tester.
Here are a few examples of how your readings will look:
The HI-98330 features auto-on and auto-off functionality, which saves battery life and reduces the input needed to take measurements. To take a second reading, remove the HI-98330 from the water and replace it.
This action resets the auto-off timer as the electrodes detect a change in electrical conductivity, giving you a second reading without any additional steps required.
The HI-98330 has a battery life of up to three years, with batteries included on purchase.
When the battery reaches 10%, this is indicated on the display with a continual light on 0.6 regardless of conductivity:
The HI-98330 nutrient tester uses 1.5V AA batteries. To switch out your batteries, take the following steps:
Run the electrodes under clean tap water after you’ve taken your readings for day-to-day cleaning, providing consistent accuracy in testing.
The HI-98330 EC Nutrient Tester is the ideal choice for hydroponics and irrigation, with a practical design and robust functionality for daily use.
