Molybdenum is primarily used in the production of alloys as it is highly resistant to corrosion and is able to withstand high temperatures without significant change to its properties, such as softening or expansion. Molybdenum levels are typically measured in wastewater samples, as wastewater must be treated to remove high levels of molybdenum.

Molybdenum concentrations can be measured by Photometry, and Hanna supply a variety of portable and bench photometers that are ideal for accurate determination of molybdenum concentration.
